The PADI Specialty Instructor courses at IDC Sardegna are designed for those looking to expand their expertise across various diving specialties.
Each course offers high-quality theoretical and practical training, providing the opportunity to develop new skills while exploring the underwater world in greater depth and with enhanced safety.
The PADI EFR Instructor course (Emergency First Response Instructor) is designed to train instructors who are capable of teaching Emergency First Response (EFR) certified first aid and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) courses.
This course is essential for those who want to professionally teach first aid and resuscitation skills to both divers and non-divers.
During the course, students will learn how to manage emergencies, recognise signs of medical emergencies, and apply appropriate techniques to handle critical situations. For PADI MSDTs who wish to become PADI IDC Staff Instructors, the path includes:
Remote e-Learning lessons - To be agreed upon with the Course Director before the start of the IDC.
Following the entire theoretical part of the IDC (as described above) in close contact with the Course Director.
Following the entire practical part of the IDC (as described above) in close contact with the Course Director.
The cost to obtain the IDC Staff Instructor certification includes:
- Theory
- Practice
- Course: €800 + VAT
- Educational Materials: €300
- PADI Certification Fees: €135 (to be paid directly to PADI via credit card).
The Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor course qualifies you to teach CPR, Primary and Secondary Care (First Aid) to both divers and non-divers. Conducted in accordance with PADI standards, the program develops strong instructional skills, emergency management competence, and confidence in delivering internationally recognized first aid and CPR training.
This certification is a mandatory step for Rescue Diver and PADI Professional pathways and is ideal for dive professionals, instructors, and anyone seeking to teach life-saving skills worldwide.
The Mermaid Instructor course qualifies you to teach PADI Mermaid™, Basic Mermaid™, and Mermaid™ programs in a safe, structured, and engaging way. Conducted according to PADI standards, the course focuses on instructional techniques, water skills development, safety protocols, and student supervision in confined and open water environments.
This certification is ideal for dive professionals, swimmers, and instructors looking to expand their teaching portfolio with a fast-growing, creative, and highly marketable aquatic discipline.
IDC Sardegna also caters to diving instructors from other recreational agencies who wish to obtain the PADI OWSI certification, taking advantage of PADI's offer of a "all-inclusive" course at a competitive price.
The path is the Crossover to PADI, which consists of completing the full IDC to understand and embrace the PADI teaching system – The way the world learns to dive.
The Crossover to PADI cost includes:
- Theoretical part in e-Learning (as described above)
- Practical part in person in Golfo Aranci (as described above)

To become a PADI OWSI, you must hold a current First Aid Instructor certification.
If you do not already have an equivalent certification from another agency, obtaining the EFR Instructor certification will be mandatory.
For PADI OWSI instructors who wish to follow the IDC:

- To stay updated with PADI Standards and Procedures
- To renew their teaching status (for OWSI in Non-Teaching Status)
