The PADI IDC is a highly engaging and formative course.
You will undertake it under the direction of Silver Course Director Paolo Micarelli and Luca Pelizzari, supported by a team of professionals, including:
- 2 Master Instructors
- 3 IDC Staff Instructors
This team is always at your disposal to help you reach your goal: becoming a PADI Instructor.
The course is divided into two distinct parts:
IDC - Instructor Development Course, which is further split into two phases:
- Theoretical part, conducted online with e-Learning lessons.
- Practical part, in-person with workshops both in the classroom and in the water.
IE - Instructor Evaluation, the certification exam with an external examiner sent by PADI to evaluate the Instructor Candidates who, having met the required results in the IDC, will be able to access the final exam with the PADI Evaluator.
The theoretical part is conducted through e-Learning, so the Candidate Instructor follows the lessons from home. The Candidate receives the online study material by accessing it with their PADI Pro account.
All the study material must be completed before the PRACTICAL PART, which will take place in person at Golfo Aranci.
The e-Learning is organized as follows:
- Duration: 4 weeks
- Schedule:
- Monday and Thursday in Italian
- Tuesday and Friday in English
- Class hours: From 21:00 to 23:00
- Platform: Zoom (available for free for Mac, Windows, and mobile devices)
Note: If a Candidate Instructor misses one or more e-Learning sessions, they must make up the missed lesson at an additional cost (exceptions may be made for serious reasons).
The practical part takes place at:
Golfo Aranci (SS)
It lasts for:
9 days
During this practical part, the scheduled workshops will be held both in the classroom and in the water. The Candidate Instructor will be engaged for the entire day.
There is also a full day dedicated to the EFR Instructor course.
The Candidate Instructor must have achieved all the required objectives from the workshops, both in the classroom and in the water, in order to be eligible for the IE (Instructor Evaluation) exam with the PADI Evaluator.
At the conclusion of the IDC (both the e-Learning and practical parts), the PADI IE (Instructor Evaluation) takes place on the 2 days immediately following the IDC. This is the Instructor Exam.
For the Instructor Exam, PADI sends an examiner from the Regional Headquarters to evaluate the preparation of the Candidate Instructors for obtaining the certification as a:
PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
Note:
- The IE is completely separate from the IDC.
- The IE is entirely coordinated and managed by PADI.
