In confined water, you’ll learn the fundamentals of mermaid movement, breath control, and safety while mastering the use of the monofin and mermaid tail. Training focuses on efficient propulsion, correct body positioning, and core skills performed to PADI performance standards.
You will learn to:
Perform effective dolphin kick propulsion
Maintain proper body alignment and streamlining
Execute safe water entries and exits
Develop basic breath control and recovery techniques

Minimum age: 10 years

Upon completion, you earn the PADI Mermaid certification, the foundation for advanced and professional mermaid training.
The PADI Advanced Mermaid course builds on your foundational mermaid skills, preparing you for more dynamic environments and professional-level training.
You’ll refine technique, efficiency, and environmental awareness while extending underwater sequences and improving team awareness. Training may take place in deeper confined water or open water, depending on conditions and performance.
This stage focuses on control, confidence, and consistency—key requirements for anyone progressing toward professional mermaid certification.
You will learn to:
Improve trim, propulsion, and energy efficiency
Extend underwater time and movement sequences
Develop situational and environmental awareness
Perform advanced mermaid skills to PADI performance standards
Demonstrate greater control and problem-handling ability

This instructor-level programme develops your teaching skills, rescue competence, and ability to manage students in both classroom and water environments. The focus is on professionalism, safety, and high-quality demonstrations.
You will learn to:
Teach and certify PADI Mermaid courses
Apply student control and risk management techniques
Deliver role-model skill demonstrations
Perform rescue and assistance techniques using a monofin
Conduct classroom sessions and in-water teaching presentations
Performance requirements
400 m continuous swim
10-minute survival float
