About this course
Divemaster
PADI Divemaster is the first professional level. You learn to supervise diving activities, lead certified divers and assist instructors with students.
The course combines eLearning with practical training: water-skills and stamina assessments, a rescue assessment, workshops including deep diving and search and recovery, and practical assignments such as dive site mapping and briefings.
As a Divemaster you can lead dives and run some PADI programmes on your own, and you meet the main certification prerequisite for the Instructor Development Course.
Course structure
Stage 1
Knowledge development
Divemaster eLearning: the role of the divemaster, supervising divers, dive theory, risk management and the business of diving.
eLearning
Stage 2
Water skills and rescue
Watermanship and stamina exercises, a 24-skill circuit to demonstration quality, and a dive rescue scenario.
Confined & open water
Stage 3
Practical workshops
Dive site set-up, mapping, briefings, search and recovery and deep dive scenarios, then real-world assisting with courses and guided dives.
Open water
Stage 4
Final assessment
Your knowledge reviews, exam and skills are assessed and signed off for certification as a PADI Divemaster.

Prerequisites
- 18 years or older
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver (or equivalent)
- 40 logged dives to start, 60 to certify
- EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months
- Medical clearance within 12 months
