About this course
Mermaid
The PADI Mermaid course teaches you to swim with a mermaid tail safely and with confidence. PADI describes mermaiding as an underwater, self-expressive art, separate from other types of diving: you learn the techniques behind graceful mermaid swimming - body position, the dolphin kick and breath control - along with the safety skills that let you enjoy it properly.
How it works
- Knowledge development: mermaid equipment, safety and the skills you will practise, with PADI eLearning available.
- In the water: at least two confined-water skill sessions covering entries and exits, body position, the dolphin kick, breath-hold swims and simple underwater movements.
The course includes everything in Basic Mermaid, so you do not need to take that first.
Who it suits
Anyone from age 10 who can swim - no diving experience needed. Complete beginners, Basic Mermaids moving up, and divers or freedivers looking for something new.
What comes next
PADI Mermaid is the start of the mermaid pathway: Advanced Mermaid, then Mermaid Instructor, all taught here in Golfo Aranci.

Entries and exits, body position, the dolphin kick and breath control, coached one step at a time.

Putting it together: breath-hold swims, turns and simple underwater sequences.

What you'll learn

Prerequisites
